Week of November 16 – 22

I saw this guy on the 6 train when Amy and I were coming back from the Seoul Folk Flea Market, which might be my new favorite place in Seoul. You can’t see it in the photo, but he had two flags, on American and one South Korean.

This weekend I went to Nok Dong, on the southern coast of Korea, to visit my friend England. It a really lovely small town on the coast, the kind of place where every business is someone’s home. We were eating in a bibimbap restaurant (which doubled as a living room) where we met an older Korean man who spent a long time trying to have a conversation with us – one of those awkward part Korean, part English, part gestures conversations. What I did understand was that he fought in the war, and he thinks American and Korea are best friends.
